Rappers lead the world when it comes to ridiculous tattoos. But while it's easy to mock Lil Wayne getting the EPSN logo on his arm or Eve's decision to stamp cat paws on her breasts, sometimes rappers themselves have second thoughts about their ink art. So with Gucci Mane recently revealing a freshly-tattooed ice cream cone on his face, here's hip-hop's five most regrettable -- and often hastily covered-up -- rap tats.
5. Baby's Bronald Logo
Lil Wayne's tattoos usually hit the headlines, but despite his extensive collection of body art, Weezy's mentor, Baby, can claim an even bigger faux pas. After telling the world that he owned an oil and gas company called Bronald, he showcased its name and logo on the side of his head. Alas, as doubts about the company's very existence were raised, the Cash Money man soon covered it up with a big red star, which he passed off as a tribute to his Five Star Stunna album.
4. Crooked I's Misspelled Crew Name
As one-fourth of indie rap supergroup Slaughterhouse, Crooked I is respected for his lyricism and word play. Unfortunately for the Long Beach rapper, his tattoo artist isn't quite the stickler for accuracy: He misspelled the name of Crooked's crew, crucially leaving out the "H" in "Slaughter." In his defense, Crooked I claimed he was tipsy while getting inked up -- although that didn't stop group-mate Joe Budden from heartily lampooning the typo on his web-TV channel.
3. The Game's Cute Little Butterfly
When The Game announced himself as the newest member of 50 Cent's G-Unit crew, the self-professed "Compton's prodigy" did so well that he was lauded as the new embodiment of gangsta rap fire-starters N.W.A. Then he got a butterfly inked on his face. Despite claiming it was a tribute to his grandmother, The Game soon found out that the rap world is an unsentimental place, so after being roundly mocked for it he switched it up into a Dodgers-style tribute to L.A.
2. Nas' Topless Kelis Portrait
The latter part of one-time rap golden boy Nas's career has been a lesson in ill-advised musical decisions, whether insisting on picking terrible beats to rhyme over or embarking on a vanity reggae project with Damian Marley. But Nas's misguided peak came when he decided to etch a semi-naked image of his then-wife Kelis on his forearm. The romantic tribute caused long-standing foe 50 Cent to quip, "Kelis said her milkshake bring all the boys to the yard/Then Nas went and tattooed the bitch on his arm." Nas and Kelis soon divorced, leaving the rapper to possibly take a cue from Damian Marley's old man's back catalog and cover it up with a lion. (See also: Jermaine Dupri's Janet Jackson tattoo.)
1. Gucci Mane's Three Scoops
Rejuvenated after a stint in a mental institution, Atlanta trap-rapper Gucci Mane decided to prove his new-found sanity by getting three scoops of ice cream, a cone, and some lightning blots emblazoned over the right side of his mug. Reports from Gucci's camp suggest the image is meant to represent a "cool as ice" philosophy, although rap nerds of a grammatical bent will note the switch in spelling of Gucci's catch-phrase -- instead of "Burr," as detailed in previous mixtapes like The Burrprint: The Movie 3D, he's gone with a more traditional "Brrr."
