10 Stars’ Tattoos Inspired by an Ex-Lover [PHOTOS]

Celebrity relationships can be as everlasting as an epic hip-hop album or as short and sweet as a summer anthem from a one hit wonder. But even though your favorite artist may have played the breakup to makeup game or been enamored with the opposite sex more times than they have had a No.1 record, you can’t blame them for trying to find love.

But one thing you can blame them for is being “drunk in love” when it comes to tattooing their body with a former lover’s name. Nothing says “I love you” forever like permanent ink and that’s the problem once the romance is dead. Rapper Tyga recently showed his teenage dream Kylie Jenner that he’s dedicated to her with a permanent display of love in the form of her name, “Kylie” tattooed in bold scripted letters on his arm. We’ve got to point out that once they’re no longer walking down lover’s lane, that tat doesn’t seem like such a good idea after all.

But Tyga is not the first and certainly won’t be the last rapper to use his body as a canvas in the name of love. Rappers and R&B artists alike have taken their love beyond the music, diamonds, trips and fancy cars to showcase their devotion to their significant others by getting a tattoo in their honor.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. What happens when the relationship is over just when the tattoo starts to heal? Resentment and regret begins to set in and it’s time to reinvent or completely remove the tattoos inspired by the exes they once adored. Safaree Erases Nicki Minaj Forever

After more than a decade with one of the sexiest women in the rap game by his side, Safaree “Scaff Beezy” Samuels proved his love to Nicki Mina with not one but two massive chest tattoos -- one side featured her name in script and another had a portrait of her face. He even got another portrait of her face on his arm dedicated to The Pinkprint creator. But once they called it quits, Safaree showcased chiseled abs and erased the tattoos he dedicated to the "Truffle Butter" rhymer from his chest. Plus, the arm ink he has seems to be fading as if he's going through the transitions of laser removal.

Nick Cannon Swaps Out M.C. for J.C.

Some may say Nick Cannon was "Wild 'N Out" when he went and tattooed Mariah Carey’s name in huge block letters across his back. Little did he know she would become his future ex-wife. But he was head-over-heels for the “Heartbreaker” singer at the time in 2008, when they got married. When their marriage fizzled in 2014, Cannon erased the past the only way he could with a tattoo that size -- by adding an even larger tattoo over it to cover it up. The paparazzi caught a glimpse of Nick’s Mariah makeover, which he transformed into a Jesus on the cross and angel illustration.

Nas Makes Kelis Fade to Black

Nas and Kelis were once hip-hop’s power couple. They were adorable on the red carpet and seemed to be smitten with each other. Nas reportedly loved his ex-wife's curves so much that he got a huge topless portrait of the “Bossy” singer tattooed on his arm. But after four years of a marriage that was rocky according to Kelis, she filed for divorce and the once lovey-dovey pair were at each other’s throats publicly. By 2010, Nas wanted to rid himself of Kelis for good -- at least on his body -- so he opted for a weird cover-up that featured a lion's roaring face on a topless woman's body. Yikes.

Iggy Azalea Crosses Out A$AP Rocky

Long before Nick Young, Iggy Azalea was all about the A$AP Mob. The "Fancy" rhymer inked “Live, Love, A$AP” on three of the fingers on her left hand in honor of her former flame A$AP Rocky. Iggy and the "Multiply" rhymer dated a few years ago, before either were in the mainstream spotlight. The Aussie artist revealed to Vibe that she was in love with the "Dope" star and they both got tattoos to solidify their relationship. However, once their relationship soured Iggy, crossed out the "A$AP" name with an “x.”

Ciara Isn't Looking Forward With Future

Future and Ciara's romance and split happened quickly -- at least in the public's eye. They were in love, engaged and expecting a child together and then broke up all in a matter of two years. However, when they were an item, the pair seemed to be committed and looked like they could actually stand the test of time. They even got matching tattoos on their ring finger -- Ciara got the letter "N" tattooed on herself for Future’s name, Nayvadius. Their son, Future Zahir Wilburn, was born in May of 2014, and rumors of trouble in paradise were brewing but it seemed like CiCi was attempting to give the “F--- Up Some Commas” rhymer one more try. But they officially called it quits in late 2014. again. The singer finally decided to leave the past behind by having the “N” lasered away.
